Trades

Commissioner Veto & Collusion

After a trade is sent and accepted by all teams involved, it moves into "Pending" status. Trades are almost always processed by the Commissioner within a few hours, unless there's evidence of collusion.

The Commissioner holds veto power for all pending trades, but trades are very rarely vetoed. The only grounds for a veto is collusion. Lopsided or objectively bad trades are part of fantasy and therefore legal.

Collusion is a trade with no competitive purpose for one side - structured to funnel value to another team with nothing real coming back. Imbalance alone is not collusion; absence of competitive benefit is.

Player trades

  • Everything must be executable on Sleeper. A trade is legal only if it can be entered and fully processed in Sleeper exactly as agreed - players, current-year draft picks, and FAAB. If Sleeper can't represent it, it isn't a trade: no cash on the side, no future picks, no players or picks "to be named later," no verbal side-deals.
  • No temporary trades or "rentals". You may not trade a player to another team under an arrangement to return a player after.
  • Trades are final and as-is. Once processed, a trade cannot be reversed for injury, suspension, or underperformance. You trade a player's future, risk included.
  • No future considerations. Every trade must name concrete assets - specific players, picks, and FAAB amounts. No "I'll owe you one," no verbal side-deals.
  • Trade deadline: no trades process after the end of Week 12.
  • Good standing required. A team may not make trades until its buy-in is paid.
  • Roster and FAAB legality. A trade cannot leave a team over the roster limit or with negative FAAB. The receiving team must clear roster room for the trade to process, and cannot include FAAB it doesn't have.

Draft-pick trades

  • Because pick-for-pick deals can swing wildly uneven, the Commissioner will scrutinize draft-pick trades harder than any other trade to protect the integrity of the league.
  • Draft picks may be traded for the current upcoming draft only - no future years.
  • The trade window for picks is after the draft-order lottery and before the draft clock starts. (Picks can't be traded before the lottery, since no one knows their slot until the order is set.) Once the draft clock starts the window is closed - no trades of any kind during the draft, including picks for slots not yet reached.
  • FAAB may be included in a pick trade.
  • Uneven pick counts are allowed - e.g., trading one early pick for two later ones, or consolidating two into one.
  • A team that ends up over the roster limit from acquiring extra picks must cut down to the roster limit before adding anyone via waivers or free agency.
